Why MEDIfogg®
What your hospital gains
Healthier and more efficient spaces for patients and staff
Lower patient morbidity
A lower microbial load in the air and on surfaces in critical areas contributes to fewer hospital-acquired infections, and therefore to shorter hospital stays and fewer complications.
Better room utilisation
Theatres return to service quickly: the cycle between procedures takes 20 minutes, 5 minutes of application and 15 minutes of exposure. You gain more capacity without expanding your infrastructure, which brings direct savings and better availability of procedures.
Staff protection
A smaller reservoir of pathogens in the environment means a lower risk of exposure for nurses, doctors and orderlies. It also contributes to staff retention, which is today the most critical issue in healthcare.
The clinical study as evidence
The efficacy of MEDIfogg® is measured by an independent laboratory
We take a professional approach to the health of your premises. That is why, in cooperation with University Hospital Bratislava and the accredited MEDIREX laboratory, we tested the use of the MEDIfogg® device in a clinical study.
Example: 180 days of daily application
Of 546 airborne colonies, 27 remained
Each dot is one isolated colony from an air sample taken on a ward of University Hospital Bratislava, Ružinov. The values after 30, 90 and 180 days are from the peer-reviewed study; the animation is illustrative.

How it works
One-off installation, simple operation by one person
See how the system works: from the fixed installation, through the cycle itself, to active monitoring.
One-off installation.
MEDIfogg® is a permanently installed automated system. Every installation is a high-tech project by our specialist team, carried out in close cooperation with the Technical Testing Institute and with minimal disruption to the facility's operation.
Show the 3 installation steps
- 1
Site survey and proposal
We walk through the rooms you want to treat and determine the number of sections and the layout of the nozzles. The result is a specific proposal for your layout, not a catalogue sheet.
- 2
Fixed installation
The piping and nozzles are installed permanently in the room. We schedule the work for a shutdown or outside the facility's operating hours.
- 3
Handover and training
We test the system, provide a test report and train the staff. Operation is at the press of a single button, so training takes one afternoon.

- Applicationnozzles disperse dry fog
- Exposurethe fog acts throughout the room
- Readythe room is dry and odourless
Illustration: nozzles below the ceiling disperse dry fog, which fills the entire volume of the room, including the air and areas behind equipment, and breaks down into water and oxygen. No ventilation and no wiping.
Operated by one person.
Operating the system requires neither an additional staff member nor any change in work organisation. Trained staff start the cycle once routine cleaning is complete.
In brief
The hospital gains disinfection of the air and of hard-to-reach areas, without damage to surfaces or equipment.

Hospital-acquired infections are not a side issue
According to the ECDC, on any given day 7.1% of hospitalised patients in the EU/EEA have a hospital-acquired infection, and 6.8% in Slovakia. MEDIfogg® gives hospitals another proven tool for reducing the microbial load in the environment, which is one of the risk factors.

How much could your hospital save?
Adjust the values to match your profile. We will prepare a precise calculation individually.
The calculation is based on an infection rate of 6.8% in Slovakia (ECDC), an average cost of €8,615 per case and a conservative assumption of a 30% reduction in infections. Example: 1 theatre and 3 procedures a day means approximately €130k per year, 8 theatres approximately €1m.
Potential annual savings

8 theatres · 3 procedures / day
Indicative estimate of savings from infections avoided. On top of the savings come fewer readmissions, a reputational benefit, staff retention and faster theatre turnover. We will prepare a specific calculation for your hospital on request.
Request a detailed calculationThe savings are not only financial. Every infection avoided means a shorter hospital stay and fewer complications, and can also save a human life. With 8 theatres and 4 procedures a day, we estimate approximately 2 lives saved per year.

Frequently asked questions
What people ask most often
Honestly: nobody who takes patients seriously can promise fewer infections. Infections arise from many causes, from the patient's immunity to hand hygiene. What we can demonstrate, however, is a substantial reduction in the microbial load of air and surfaces, which is one of the main risk factors.
In Slovak hospitals we measured reductions of 49 to 95%. At University Hospital Nitra, the number of positive swabs fell from 26 to 10. MEDIfogg® does not replace routine disinfection but complements it where neither a cloth nor a UV lamp can reach: into the air, behind equipment, below ceilings and into gaps. It delivers the best results as part of the hospital's hygiene programme.No. The cycle runs in an empty theatre between procedures and takes 20 minutes: 5 minutes of application and 15 minutes of exposure. Staff start it with a single button, or it runs automatically according to a schedule.
The ventilation can be running or switched off during the cycle. We always adapt the settings to your room so that established routines are not disrupted. After the cycle, the theatre is ready without airing, without wiping and without waiting.Yes, and that is exactly why we chose dry fog. Its droplets are so fine that they float in the air and do not condense. No wet film forms on surfaces, nothing drips, and monitors, devices and plastic covers stay dry. Humidity in the room does not exceed 60% during the cycle.
The product consists of stabilised hydrogen peroxide 7.7% with ionised silver (Ag⁺). After the cycle, the peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen. Silver is present in the product only in trace amounts, below 0.02%, so no harmful or visible residues remain in the room. The system routinely operates in operating theatres full of sensitive medical equipment. We take care of everything. Servicing is provided by Detectair Slovakia, s. r. o., and the regular monthly fee covers consumables, filters, regular inspection and adjustment of the system, software, travel and the technician's labour.
The system itself reports when the product needs topping up or a service needs to be scheduled, and sends a message via GSM. Higher models also allow remote monitoring and remote servicing, so we can resolve many issues without a visit. Your people can focus on patients, not on technology. We do not rely on promises but on measurements taken directly in hospitals:
• UNB Ružinov: a peer-reviewed clinical study in the journal Antibiotics (2024). The number of airborne colonies fell from 546 to 27 over 180 days.
• University Hospital Nitra: positive swabs down from 26 to 10 (a 62% reduction), airborne microbial load 49% lower.
• St. Cyril and Methodius Hospital: a 65% reduction in microbial load.
• UNB Kramáre: results presented at the WONCA Europe conference in Paris 2026, a reduction of 70 to 80%.
• AGEL University Hospital: a reduction of 50 to 52%.
The product's effectiveness is verified according to European standards, and the device holds a certificate of conformity from TSÚ Piešťany. We will gladly send you the complete reports.
Our vision
A European centre for the development and manufacture of microbiological safety technologies
Our vision is to bring hospitals across Europe an effective tool for reducing the microbial load in critical areas and creating a safer environment for patients and healthcare staff.
MEDIfogg® is a patented European technology with clinically demonstrated efficacy, developed and manufactured by Detectair Technologies for the European market. We do not replace existing hygiene and infection prevention measures. We complement them with an automated whole-room disinfection system with clinically demonstrated efficacy.
